Ctrl+Backspace: Pop to Activecell

00:45 When I learned this shortcut, it was such a relief! Get back to the top of information-dense worksheets in a flash. Simply press Ctrl+Backspace to pop to your first activecell.

Ctrl+Shift+L: Auto Filter Shortcut

01:38 Auto filter is one of my most popular features in Excel, and the keyboard shortcut is a MUST know! Ctrl+Shift+L toggles it on and off. Use it!

Wildcard Searches: ? *

03:00 Wildcard searches will help you use filters like a pro. They basically tell Excel that any character is acceptable. For example, let's say we are filtering Product ID's, and we want to view all ID's that start with 12 and are four characters in length. To do this, input "12??". Each question mark (?) tells Excel that there MUST be a character in that spot, but ANY character will do.

Another wildcard is the asterisk (*). This too tells Excel that ANY character will do, but it doesn't restrict the amount of characters. Let's use the same example, but with an asterisk this time: "12*". This tells Excel to look for anything that begins with "12" no matter what follows it. Check it out in action.

Advanced Filters

05:47 Advanced filters are not widely used, but go against the grain and check out this segment.
